On August 6, 2021, Bayer Yakuhin, Ltd. announced the commercial launch of Larotrectinib Sulfate oral solution 20 mg/mL for the treatment of NTRK gene fusion-positive, progressive or relapsed solid tumors in Japan.

In clinical trials enrolling adult and pediatric patients with TRK fusion gene-positive solid tumors (N=159), Larotrectinib Sulfate demonstrated a high and durable response rate exceeding 3 years, and confirmed high disease control rates for primary tumors of the central nervous system with TRK fusion genes. Based on these trial results, Larotrectinib Sulfate 25 mg and 100 mg capsules were also launched in July 2021.

The oral solution was developed to improve ease of administration for pediatric patients and those with swallowing difficulties. It represents the first oral liquid formulation for an anti-malignant tumor agent in Japan. To support correct usage, Bayer is providing an accessory kit including a micro-dispenser and a dose-check card for Larotrectinib Sulfate.

In its press release, Bayer Yakuhin stated its commitment to providing personalized treatment options for patients with NTRK gene fusion-positive cancers regardless of cancer type or age, and to continuously meeting the unmet medical needs of these patients.
