Medical Supporter — Information Notice

This article is a summary of international medical information and is not medical advice; it cannot replace the diagnosis or treatment plan of your attending physician. The medical technologies, drug information and clinical data presented here are compiled from public literature and official statements of Japanese medical institutions; the applicability and outcome of any therapy vary with each patient and must be assessed individually by a qualified physician.

Any specific treatment plan must be assessed by a licensed physician in Japan

For EGFR-mutant Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC), Osimertinib is a standard therapy. Its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and target mutations has changed the treatment landscape.

1. Adjuvant Treatment Research: ADAURA

In the ADAURA trial, using Osimertinib as adjuvant therapy after surgery for early-stage (IB-IIIA) lung cancer was reported to reduce the risk of recurrence or death by 80% (literature data; for reference only).

2. Advanced/Metastatic Disease Research: FLAURA

As a first-line treatment for advanced cases, clinical trials reported longer overall survival (OS) with Osimertinib compared to older, first-generation TKIs (literature data; for reference only), with a better safety profile and fewer side effects like rash and diarrhea.
