This clinical trial compares the combination of Atezolizumab + Bevacizumab (Avastin) therapy against Sunitinib monotherapy in patients with inoperable metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC).
Atezolizumab is an anti-PD-L1 antibody that works by inhibiting the PD-L1 protein, thereby reactivating T-cells to attack cancer cells.
Trial Overview
- Period: August 2015 – October 2019
- Locations: Taiwan, USA, Thailand, Japan, and other regions.
- Target Enrollment: 550 patients
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria:
- Age 18 or older.
- Inoperable, locally advanced, or metastatic renal cell carcinoma.
- No prior systemic chemotherapy for metastatic disease.
- Karnofsky Performance Status (PS) of 70% or higher.
Exclusion Criteria:
- Metastasis to the central nervous system (CNS).
- Uncontrolled pleural effusion, ascites, hypercalcemia, or pericardial effusion.
- Other conditions as specified in the full protocol.
