On July 3, 2023, Daiichi Sankyo and AstraZeneca announced results from the TROPION-Lung01 Phase III clinical trial evaluating TROP2 antibody drug Datopotamab Deruxtecan (Dato-DXd) as second- or third-line treatment for non-small cell lung cancer.

The TROPION-Lung01 Phase III clinical trial was a global trial that enrolled previously treated advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer patients (approximately 600), divided into the Dato-DXd group and the Docetaxel group.

In this announcement, the primary endpoint progression-free survival showed significant improvement in the Dato-DXd group compared to the other group. The interim analysis results for the other primary endpoint, overall survival, showed an initial trend toward improvement in the Dato-DXd group; however, there was no statistically significant difference. The data will continue to be evaluated until the final analysis.

Regarding safety, this trial showed trends consistent with other studies using Dato-DXd. The drug is associated with interstitial lung disease, most of which were grade 1 or 2, though grade 5 adverse events with confirmed patient deaths were also observed.

Detailed results of this study will be presented at a future academic conference.
