Several colleagues of Japanese nationality have inquired about recent immunotherapy information. They asked if we could provide updates. Please follow our Facebook page.

What Medical Supporter can do is make your medical care more convenient and hassle-free. Frankly, in this information-saturated age, there's little that cannot be accomplished. Below are two recent articles published by the Japan Lung Cancer Society.

This is the Japan Lung Cancer Society's recommendation from December 11, 2015 regarding PD-1 drug subsidies. They recommend modifications to the DPC system. Details are available via the link. Current Opdivo costs vary by body weight, but in Japan average approximately 3 million yen per month. Due to Japan's high-cost medical expense subsidy system, patients typically pay around 100,000 yen, then 45,000 yen from the fourth month onward. However, the current issue is the hospital's maximum reimbursement ceiling. They proposed reducing hospital losses and providing more complete information to patients.

This article is for Japan Lung Cancer Society members and discusses Iressa. When Iressa first came to market, its risk of interstitial pneumonia side effects wasn't yet known, resulting in over 800 patient deaths. The Japan Lung Cancer Society emphasizes that medical professionals should carefully evaluate whether Opdivo is appropriate for each patient and stay informed about subsidy updates.

Quote: "In the past, the 'dream new drug' Iressa emerged. When it first appeared, the dangers of interstitial pneumonia were unknown, and over 800 people died. In considering Nivolumab's approval and use, we must not forget this lesson. We believe this applies not only to medical professionals but also to patients."
