Some drugs that are already FDA-approved in Japan have not yet been approved for use in Taiwan. Foreign patients still need to visit a physician for consultation and obtain a prescription before receiving medication. Some patients make a trip to Japan to see a doctor and get their medication. While drug pricing information is available online, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare recently announced new pharmaceutical pricing policies effective from April 1, 2016.
