This video was produced by MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Gregory Lizee and his team are designing personalized vaccines that direct the immune system toward a patient's tumor, to treat colorectal cancer patients. Through analysis, 10 cancer-specific targets unique to each patient are identified and incorporated into personalized cancer vaccines.
The goal of immunotherapy is to generate a more powerful anti-tumor response without damaging normal tissue. In the video, Lizee explains how to identify patient-specific targets, why personalized treatment is important, and how this approach can be applied to other types of cancer.
