Metaphase (cell level 1): Obstructing microtubule assembly → cancer cell apoptosis.
In the initial stages of mitosis, the spindle begins to form through the alignment of highly polar microtubules.
When no cell division is occurring, the electric field within the cell is uniform.
Under the influence of an electric field, because microtubules have the characteristic of aligning along the electric field, the electrical stimulation hinders microtubule assembly, and mitosis will also cease.
Anaphase (cell level 2): High-molecular compounds, organelles, and other cellular components move toward the bottleneck → disrupting cancer cells.
In cells where spindle formation is complete, the cell begins to divide into two cells.
During division, the cell shape resembles an hourglass. Under the influence of an external electric field, the distribution of the electric field becomes non-uniform.
The electric field forcibly compresses the components within the cancer cell, driving them toward the bottleneck of the hourglass shape, thereby disrupting and tearing apart the cancer cell.
