Last year, we shared with everyone that Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's Central Social Insurance Medical Council had been conducting a series of discussions on drug pricing — among which the two immune checkpoint inhibitor drugs Keytruda and Opdivo were mentioned. At the 345th Central Social Insurance Medical Council meeting yesterday, price revisions were announced.
Keytruda: 20 mg — ¥84,488; 100 mg — ¥410,541. Opdivo, also a PD-1 inhibitor: 20 mg — ¥75,100; 100 mg — ¥364,925.
The approved indications for both of these immunotherapy drugs include melanoma and PD-L1-positive unresectable non-small cell lung cancer. For dosing information, please consult your attending physician or refer to the official websites of MSD (Merck) or Ono Pharmaceutical.
