On June 21, 2021, Ono Pharmaceutical Industry Co., Ltd. announced modifications to the Opdivo (nivolumab) package insert, adding nivolumab + bevacizumab + chemotherapy as a new treatment option for patients with unresectable or recurrent non-small cell lung cancer.
This modification was based on the results of the TASUKI-52 Phase 3 clinical trial, a multicenter, double-blind, randomized Phase 3 trial dividing chemotherapy-naive, unresectable or recurrent non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer patients unsuitable for radiotherapy into two groups: nivolumab + bevacizumab + chemotherapy versus placebo + bevacizumab + chemotherapy. Interim analysis results showed that compared with the placebo group, the nivolumab group demonstrated extended progression-free survival as the primary endpoint.
